Behind the Scenes - A look into my life beyond work
I 100% believe that people don’t hire us or buy from us if they don’t know who we are. I know I wouldn’t. Apart from that, even if someone offers something I don’t (currently) need, I love seeing their behind the scenes pictures, getting to know them and learning more about their life. We all love that peek into someone’s personal life, seeing behind the scenes.
So today, after I shared a behind the scenes look into my business/photography process, let me share a look into my life. I could have also titled this post “the best day in a long time” (if it stays around for years to come and you’re reading it way after I hit publish, this might have changed of course). It’s August 2019, and here’s a description of a perfect day I had a few weeks back (and what a lot of my Saturdays look like, even if not spent alone):
I woke up early on a Saturday morning (naturally, no alarm clock), journalled while still in bed (I write down what I’m grateful for, what went well yesterday, and what would make today awesome. This changes every now and then, but at the moment these are my common journal prompts). I also read through a “document” I made for myself, which has all my goals, a vision moodboard, behavioural goals, my lowest standards (i.e. who I need to be to achieve my goals), my habits, affirmations etc. in it. This constantly reminds me of where I’m going and who I need to be in order to get there. It keeps me on track. Side note: If this is something you’re interested in and want to hear more about, let me know and I’ll write a separate post on it.
I then had a small breakfast and got ready to go to the gym to train Muay Thai. I usually do two classes (i.e. two hours) on a Saturday. I love those sessions; they’re not as early in the morning as the weekday ones, and I usually get to see most of my little group of girl friends I’ve met through the gym.
On the way there and back I listened to a podcast. After my two classes of Muay Thai I always take some time to stretch, and often go to the sauna (they have a small home sauna at the gym). I then came home, had a nice warm shower (in winter) to warm up my toes, and ate lunch followed by coconut (or almond or cashew) decaf coffee.
After a bit of time just relaxing, I worked on my website (or generally work on something I love), watched a webinar, and learned about Pinterest for business.
Later in the afternoon I went to Restorative Yoga with Yoga Nidra, one of my new favourite yoga classes. It’s basically like taking an organised nap, which is so nice after a morning of more intense workouts.
I had the house to myself that weekend. It had been a long time since I’ve been home all alone (and I was super excited), so after yoga I got myself some snacks, dessert, ordered pizza, had a glass of wine, and watched Sex and the City (followed by Murder Mystery). Yep, that’s what I watched. (By now I’ve moved on to Mad Men). ;)
Then I was off to bed, cuddling Remus, my cat, for a little while, and got a great sleep. The only thing that could have topped my day (and that I will totally add next time) is getting a massage.
There you have it, a pretty much perfect day in my current life. Exercise, good food, a bit of work I love, learning, relaxing, more good food, followed by a restful sleep.
