Is Personal Brand Photography for you?

If you’ve ever wondered what personal brand photography is all about, who it’s for, what’s included, and what a photo shoot involves, keep on reading.

Since I’ve recently opened up bookings for my own personal brand photography package for entrepreneurs, I figured it would be helpful to highlight a few key points and talk you through how it all works, what’s so valuable about it, and help you decide if this is something you would benefit from.

First of all, what is Personal Brand Photography?

Personal Brand Photography is storytelling. It’s about capturing your own unique brand, what you’re all about and what you’re offering to your customers and audience. It’s about creating genuine connections with your audience, letting them into your world, and ultimately getting them to buy from you (because they know, like and trust you).

Your personal brand helps you attract the right customers for you, as you share part of your personality and brand.

Capturing your personal brand through photography is the most prominent and influential way to share what you’re all about and build strong connections that ultimately increase your sales.

Here’s why: visuals create emotions. They are the strongest tool we’ve got to draw people in, capture their attention and make them want to know more.

If you’re sharing photos on social media or your website, photos are the first thing that your audience or a future customer sees, before they ever go to read your caption, blog, etc.
Even if you have a podcast - what’s the first thing people see on iTunes or Stitcher? It’s your cover image.

Where do they go next? Probably to check out your website, Instagram, Facebook or Pinterest profile. And again, they’ll be seeing images. It’s the first point of contact you’ve got and the point where you can make the strongest impact. It’s the first impression you create.

Most photographers don’t even fully understand what Personal Brand Photography is really about - it’s not just about capturing your portraits. It’s more than headshots. It’s more than detail shots or lifestyle or behind the scenes images. It’s about capturing you and your STORY. It’s all about the story.

Who is this for, who do I work with?

I work with online entrepreneurs, action takers, dream chasers, high achievers, makers, innovators, creators and influencers. I work with people who need consistent and regular content, and who see the value and importance of strong, professional photography.

I work with entrepreneurs who value time over money, who have created an efficient business and are focused on results. They work hard to serve their clients better and don’t have time or energy to spend hours on social media each day, wondering what to post, when to post, what to say.

They’d rather spend a short and focused amount of time planning and shooting, so they can have consistent content to share, bring across their personality and portray their brand, without having to worry where next week’s images are going to come from.

What’s included and how does it work?

My Personal Brand Photography package is always tailored and customised. No one person and brand is the same, we’re all unique and different.

I offer one-off sessions, as well as subscription packages for a whole year where we shoot every 3 months. This way you’ll have content ready to go each day for three months before having to think about photos ever again. It takes a huge workload off you and allows you to focus on your most important work.

It also creates a consistent brand with regular, on-brand content that builds a strong visual identity and long-term trust with your audience - because they get to know you for your style and brand.

Here’s what all my packages have in common:

I work with you to fully plan your session from start to finish, taking off the hard work and concerns, so you can stay focused on your work and keep doing what you’re best at.

  1. First off, we always jump on a call to discuss your needs, so that I can understand your brand, as well as provide you with a quote.

  2. From there we’ll sort out all the business work, i.e. contract and payment. It’s important that we’re on the same page and set clear expectations.

  3. Next comes the planning process. I will send you a questionnaire, which is different depending on whether we’re working together for the first time, or if it’s a recurring shoot we’re doing every few months. I will also share a Pinterest board with you that allows us to get on the same page visually and plan the shoot in more detail. We create between three to five “stories” we want to shoot on the day, based around different themes that are a key part of your brand. We also take into account where you are in your business and what you’ll need for the next few months (depending on your schedule, promotional calendar, etc.).

  4. On the day of the shoot we’ve got everything planned out perfectly, we know exactly what’s going to happen and what shots we need in order to communicate your story. After we’ve taken some time to sit down, relax, have a cup of tea or coffee and a chat, we dive right in. I never skip the coffee and conversation. Just 20-30 minutes of relaxing and having a chat helps immensely in creating much better, more natural and candid photos.

  5. Depending on the package, I will send you between 60-100 images, so you’ll have content in plenty for the next few months and don’t have to spend a second worrying about curating your feed or what images to use for your next launch.

  6. I’m not a social media manager, but I will send you a guide to inspire some caption ideas for the following weeks/months, that you (or your social media manager) can use when scheduling your content. I’m focused on taking as much weight off your shoulders, allowing you to get back to work and focus on your strengths. Go make some money, create more impact, and serve your clients.

You can see, the whole point of planning out the shoot and scheduling it in advance every few months is to allow you to focus your energy, and to relax about posting content and how you’re going to communicate your personal brand, share it with your audience, and connect with them.

I know you’ve got better things to do. And while photography is fun and you’ll have an awesome time in front of the camera, creating the next three months worth of content doesn’t have to be a big deal. You only have to do it four times a year.

Does any of this sound like you? If so, reach out to me now as I’m taking on new clients. I’m limiting the spots I book each month to four (as I’m only taking on 12 subscription client spots for the whole year).

Get in touch and we can get to know each other over the phone to see if we’re a good fit. I’d love to hear from you and help you share your unique brand with your audience.
